What do you really know about the people you know?

January 20th, 2012 · 1 Comment · Inspiration, Unopened Gifts

To say that we have known someone for a long time is misleading and to truly know someone requires trust to ensure that each party feels safe in sharing more of themselves.
Although we may have lost track of each other for a prolonged period, I have known Dr. Brett Hightower for over 30 years. That said, I learned more about Brett in the course of a few hours this month than at any point in the history of our acquaintance. Of the many attributes and life victories that I respect in Dr. Hightower, his ability to be authentic and transparent demonstrates a model that many of us aspire to attain.
In light of who you know and have known for a while, it’s worth considering who you really truly know.  The art of cultivating meaningful relationships happens when we have the courage to be ourselves, and in turn look to those in our sphere of influence as able to help us along the journey of life and vice versa…
